ISDE Spain 2024 | Day 5 Highlights & Results

Next

Day 5 of the 2024 ISDE was a visibility nightmare. Dense fog made the racing a little hazardous, which prompted organizers to cancel Stage 5, the second go on the enduro loop. This made for a shorter day, which was probably ok for many of the exhausted racers. At the end of the 5th day, we can usually predict the finishing order of the classes, barring mechanical failure or bizarre occurrences. This is because it is virtually impossible to make up more than a handful of seconds during the final motocross stage.

Here’s what went down Day 5 in the Trophy classes:
Hats off to the French World Trophy Team. They accomplished another solid team effort, solidifying their position in the top spot. They are 7.5 minutes ahead of the U.S. Team, and 9.5 minutes faster than the hometown Spaniards. This should be your podium after tomorrow.

Women’s World Trophy racing was more of the same. Brandy Richards was riding fast, and the American ladies have a lead of over 3.5 minutes on the Australians, who are now 18 minutes ahead of Sweden. Looks like Team U.S.A. is going to get some hardware!

In Junior World Trophy, France gave it their best effort, but still managed to come up around 2 minutes short of the first place Swedes. The American team remains in 3rd, a couple of minutes ahead of 4th place Australia. This should be a comfortable lead, landing the Juniors on the podium.

Club Team Classes:
Italy’s Club Team has led from the outset, and has pounded out a 16.5-minute lead over the 2nd place French effort. Third place is the U.S. GTBN team, who gained about a minute-forty seconds over the XC Gear guys today.

US Sprint Enduro club team remains in 8th place. Anson, Anthony, and Zack all rode well today and finished within 2 minutes of each other. Definitely a solid effort from these guys finishing within the top ten. They have a 6-minute lead over the Elizabeth Scott Community team in 9th position.

The Missouri Mudders Club Team had a good day and made up two spots to claim 14th
position.

The Hough Legacy Racing Club Team ended up at 84th today. In the Women’s Club Team Division, The Eric Cleveland Memorial ladies have been dominant. They ended day 5 with a 1.5 HOUR lead over the British Club team, and 2.5 HOURS ahead of the Canadian Club. Wow that’s really impressive.

Tomorrow will bring the short moto test to the remaining 500 or so riders, which is really just a formality barring total mechanical failure. We’ll recap the results, check the team standings, and go over individual recognition as we bring this year’s ISDE to a close.
