ISDE Spain 2024 | Final Day Highlights & Results

Constant rain turned the final day of the 2024 ISDE into a muddy, rutty slopfest. This also made for a more interesting final round, as ruts could swallow up bikes. Another consideration is the fact that the best way to get through mud is to run your bike wide open. Tired engines tend not to enjoy that kind of abuse, leading to mechanical failures.

Here’s what went down Day 6 after the moto test for the World Trophy teams:
French World Trophy did what they have been doing all week Fast times from all four riders capped off a remarkably quick and consistent effort. This makes them the 2024 World Trophy Champions. Only 5.5 minutes slower, our Team U.S.A. Men did a great job considering the miserable conditions, and took home second place. Rounding out the podium are the Spanish team, around 14.5 minutes slower than the winners despite having the fastest rider in the world and ISDE overall winner Josep Garcia.

The American Women’s World Trophy finished 6.3 minutes ahead of the Australians and 30 minutes faster than the Swedish ladies. Team U.S.A. is the Women’s World Trophy Champion, great job ladies!

In Junior World Trophy, Team Sweden ended up as the 2024 Champs, with the French around 6.5 minutes slower for second. Our American youngsters fought hard all week and ended up around 14 minutes off the pace, but still ended up on the podium in third position. Fantastic effort!

Club Team Trophy results:
Italy’s team was dominant this year, and are the 2024 Club Team champions. The big surprise on day 6 was the American GTBN Team, who squeaked past the French team that had been ahead of them all week. A seven second lead is all GTBN needed to secure the #2 position. They just kept their heads down and kept racing. What a great result. Team XC Gear just missed the podium and finished in 4th, about 2 minutes behind the third place French team. With Anson Maloney leading the way, the US Sprint Enduro team finished in 8th position out of 124 teams. Great result guys!

The Elizabeth Scott Community Team was right behind in 9th. Lane Lorenzo was the standout on this Club team. He rode well today the team finished off the week by gaining one spot and finishing in 13th position. The Hough Legacy Racing Club Team experienced issues with Tyler Vore. His max times on days 4-6 relegated the squad to 86th place in the Club Team competition. Tough luck guys.

In the first ever Women’s Club Team Division, The Eric Cleveland Memorial ladies finished off the mx test as the reigning champions. They bested the British and Canadian teams by one and two-hour time intervals, respectively. Quite the accomplishment done in dominant fashion.

On an individual basis, Josep Garcia Montana was the fastest rider out there, period. He takes home his fourth consecutive ISDE overall win and finishes off basically a perfect enduro year.

Here are some other notable American riders and finishing position overall: Josh Toth – 10th, Grant Davis(JWT) – 11th, Johnathan Girroir - 12th, Dante Oliveira - 14th, Cody Barnes – 19th, Mateo Oliveira(JWT) – 31st, Jason Tino(JWT) – 38th.

It is worth noting that two women were exceptional during this event. Brandy Richards from Team U.S.A. finished 49th overall, and Rachael Archer from New Zealand finished 54th.

Anson Maloney finished 19th fastest out of the Club Team riders. Anthony Ferrante was 22nd quickest, and Zachary Toth managed 42nd place out of 372 riders. Great effort from our friends on the US Sprint Enduro Club Team.

ISDE 2024 is over! Great effort and results from the American delegation as usual netted some very impressive results. Way to go Team U.S.A., we’ll see you next year in Bergamo, Italy.
